CHAIRMAN JARED HOFFMAN

Jared was born and raised in rural Snyder County, where he developed a lifelong commitment to serving his community. From an early age, he volunteered alongside his family and church, helping with soup kitchens, food pantries, and other charitable efforts that supported neighbors in need. Guided by the principle of “Service Above Self,” Jared has dedicated his life to making his community, county, and Commonwealth stronger. That commitment is reflected in his more than ten years of service as a firefighter with the Shamokin Dam and Kratzerville Fire Departments.

Jared’s interest in public service extended into politics at the age of 17. Initially a Republican, he became actively involved with his local party by the age of 18, engaging with voters, assisting the county committee, and advocating for pragmatic, moderate policies. Even then, he was willing to challenge ideological extremism, believing that practical, commonsense leadership better reflected the values of Pennsylvania.

During the 2016 presidential election, Jared publicly opposed Donald Trump and became involved in the anti-Trump movement within the Republican Party. His stance drew significant criticism from party leaders and activists, and he was often labeled a “traitor” for refusing to abandon his principles. Despite the hostility, he continued organizing and advocating for a more moderate Republican Party. After years of conflict with the party establishment and growing ideological differences, he left the Republican Party and joined the Democratic Party in 2019.

As a Democrat, Jared focused on rebuilding support for the party in rural Pennsylvania by emphasizing bipartisan solutions and “kitchen table issues” such as economic opportunity, affordable housing, public safety, and lowering everyday costs. During the 2022 election cycle, he worked to engage independent and Republican voters while supporting Democratic candidates across the Commonwealth.

In 2024, Jared served as the Snyder County Democratic Committee’s Precinct Captain for Penn Township, where he organized neighborhood events, met directly with voters, and built grassroots support for Democratic candidates by focusing on the issues that mattered most to local families. That same year, he was hired as a full-time Campus Organizer with a political nonprofit, leading voter registration and turnout efforts on college campuses throughout Pennsylvania. When not organizing students, he also served as Campaign Manager for congressional candidate Zach Womer in Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional District. Under his leadership, the campaign made significant gains in western Snyder County, demonstrating that sustained grassroots organizing and locally focused messaging could improve Democratic performance even in traditionally Republican communities.

Today, Jared serves as Chairman of the County Party after serving 4 years as Secretary of the Snyder County Democratic Committee, He additionally serves as Subcommittee Chairman of Elections, and Precinct Captain for Penn Township. In 2025, he was elected to the Selinsgrove Area School Board, where he continues his commitment to public service by advocating for students, families, and taxpayers. He also serves as the North Central Regional Director for the Pennsylvania Young Democrats, working to strengthen Democratic organizations, develop future leaders, and expand civic engagement throughout central Pennsylvania.

Jared is a voting member of the State Democratic Committee and is a member of the Rural, Labor, LGBTQIA and North Central Caucuses
